What is payroll?

Payroll is the system that businesses use to calculate and administer employees’ salaries in accordance with a country’s legislation and local tax requirements. In the UK, the payroll process includes the following calculations:

  1. Calculate the total gross pay, which includes the basic salary, any overtime, and bonuses.
  2. Deduct national taxes and social security contributions.
  3. Subtract any pension contributions and other predetermined deductions.
  4. Determine the final net pay that will be disbursed to each employee.

Payroll accuracy and timeliness are non-negotiable, especially when navigating the complexities of HMRC regulations in the UK.

Payroll Processing

With our outsourced payroll service, we'll maintain net to gross calculations in-line with statutory rules, ensuring pro-rata values as stipulated by you are applied along the way.

No need to worry about Statutory Sick Pay, (SSP) maternity , adoption and paternity pay, we'll do all your variable adjustments for you. 

We're also on hand to aid in handling employee under and over-payment.

Payroll in 3 simple steps

1. Send us your payroll details at least 2 working days before payment - including starters, leavers, hours, leave and pay adjustments.

2. The business checks the payslips are correct.

3. Pay employees

Weekly / Fortnightly / Four Weekly / Monthly

Directors only payroll from £20.00 per month for the first two directors

1. We process your payroll each month, then send you your payslip for each month.

2. We submit the data to HMRC so they know about your pay and deductions.

Employee payroll from £24.00 per month for your first four employees

1. We email you at the end of the pay period for the pay details of what your employees have worked.

2. We process your payroll, then send out payslips and a summary of how much to pay your employees and how much to pay HMRC.

3. We submit the data to HMRC so they know about your employee's pay and deductions you have made.

* Setting up and registration of a PAYE scheme with HMRC will incur an  extra one of charge

Workplace Pension Set Up and Management from £6.00 per employee


Workplace pensions is an add on service to the employee payroll service.

Our preferred workplace pension provider is with the Nest workplace pension scheme (although other pension providers can be accommodated)

* Set up and registration charges may apply

We can either  set this up and hand it over, or continue to manage it each month on your behalf

We can enrol employees, administer and make regular  submissions to your pension provider, so they can collect the contributions from you directly

The outsourcing process

We email you at the end of each pay period for the pay details of  what your employees have worked

After step 1 above we:

  • Check for employee tax coding notices
  • Deal with Automatic Enrolment duties - including starters, leavers, opt-outs  and re-enrolments
  • Produce payslips for your approval and inform you of your PAYE liability to HMRC
  • Produce payroll reports including payslip generation - emailed to employer and also emailed to employee's designated email address
  • Submit information to HMRC & pension provider - including prepare FPS  & EPS and file on your behalf
  • Post payroll journals to compatible software
  • We can also produce end of year reports and colloborate with your accountant supplying all payroll reports when required.
  • Workplace pensions - set up and registration of the Nest workplace pension scheme if required 
  • Advice on informing your staff how auto-enrolment affects them
  • Enrolment of elegible employee's into the scheme
  • Employer and Employee contributions on payslip
  • Pension management and submissions to pension provider every pay period, so they can collect the contributions from you directly by DD
  • Regulararly check for any new elegible employees and auto enrol them
  • Declaration  of compliance submitted every three years
